Turkey has won the 2016 World Championships of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive!

There were breathtaking scenes in Belgrade, Serbia. Sixteen teams from eight countries took part. Turkey participated with the teams “Space Soldiers” and “Dark Passage”. They played matches in train, overpass and cobblestone maps. Ismail Can “XANTARES” Dörtkardeş, Buğra “CALYX” Arkın, Çağatay “DESPE” Sedef, Engin “MAJ3R” Kupeli and Ahmet “PAZ” Karahoca played the final match against Argentina which Argentina lost 2-1. Man of the match was XANTARES with a K/D of 1.18. DESPE acted as team coach and the team won the grand prize money of $50.000. In total, there was a $100.000 prize pool. The grand prize was $50.000, 2nd $20.000, 3rd and 4th $10.000 and 5th-8th $2.500 per team. It may seem too much at first, but this is like their job. They train every day and travel to different countries to take part in tournaments. They said they felt especially proud to sing the Turkish national anthem. by Esra Melike Ersoy
