TV Series Review: Blue Bloods

One of the best ways to improve your English is watching English and American tv-series in their original language with English subtitles. In this corner of the Newsletter, we will pay attention to a series which we think deserves your attention. This time it is the American police drama series Blue Bloods.

Blue Bloods follows the lives of the Reagan family. They live in New York and Frank Reagan is the highest ranking police officer in New York, he is the NYPD Police Comissioner and son of former Police Commisioner Henry Reagan. Frank must balance his duties of running the largest police force in the world and being his kids’ boss. His daughter Erin is an Assistant District Attorney, son Danny is a senior detective and Marine Veteran, and youngest son Jamie is a Harvard Law grad turned cop. Put in three grandchildren who are all around 18 years old, and you have a beautiful family drama with people who passionately defend their city from harm. The Irish-American family is deeply patriotic, passionate, and full of love for their family. I have watched this series from the first episodes in 2010 and love it because of its mixture of police excitement, big city politics and family drama. by Monique Gümüş
