TV Series Reviews: Peaky Blinders

“It’s not a good idea to look at Tommy Shelby the wrong way.”

After World War I, in 1919, the Peaky Blinders start to rule the English city of Birmingham.  Peaky Blinders is a nickname for the Shelby family which includes Thomas, Arthur, John, Aunt Polly and Ada. Their nickname comes from the razor blades they sew into the peaks of their caps. One day, they accidently steal some guns from the British goverment. To prevent the news from spreading, Winston Churchill hires Inspector Campbell, who fought against the IRA in Belfast, to find the missing guns. From this point things get very complicated and I do not want to give the plot away, so I am cutting the storyline here. Peaky Blinders was created by Steven Knight and directed by Otto Bathurst who won best director in fiction and was voted the best drama series by the Royal Television Society.
