The third student club that we interviewed for this Newsletter is the Musician’s Club. In this interview Anıl Ayberkin (3rd chairman), explains more about the background of the club and its different activities.
When and why was the ‘The Musicians Club’ founded?
The club was founded in 2011 by Tansel Uluderya. The club’s main goal is to give players a chance to experience the stage atmosphere. It is one of the oldest and most established clubs of the school.
What kind of activities do you do?
At the beginning of every year, we organize a meeting and a party. In the course of the year, we create Game Nights, Karaoke Nights and stage experience opportunities. We try to organize a major project for each year and provide musical support for the activities of other clubs.
Do the members have to play any kind of instruments? If not, do you teach them?
No, club members do not have to play musical instruments. Courses may be opened according to attendance status. Members who do not play musical instruments can easily participate in all events. In short, anyone who loves music can join the club.
Will there be any events this semester?
In May, the university was going to organize a spring festival and we were going to support it. Unfortunately, the entire festival has been cancelled, apart for a university wide Trivia Quiz on May 16th which we will still be supporting musically. Furthermore, we are planning to organize an Acoustic Picnic towards the end of April together with PACTS. We will also prepare a video that will take 10-12 minutes. Our students will play in the video and it will be like a ‘Doğa İçin Çal’ project.
What is the Musicians Club’s greatest success?
Last year, we hosted Barış Manço’s family at our school. We also had an interview and question-answer event with the family in the conference hall. Finally, IzManço gave us a concert.
Would you like to add something else?
The musicians club is not a club which is full of rock players. There are members who are dealing with all kinds of music in the club. Jazz, blues, folk, rap… Anyone who is interested in any kind of music can join the club.
